Blacksmithing has a long and very interesting history from the early days of horseshoeing to being “Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree” come and learn the basics that you can learn in a two-day class. No, you won’t be a blacksmith when the class is over but you will have ample opportunity to see if this hobby is for you without the financial investment of a blacksmith shop. Class size limited to 8.

Oct. 27 & Nov. 3 8am to 4:30pm Tri-angle Loom
KC RenFest Booth 651
This is a relaxed, hands-on workshop for beginners, covering basic tri-angle loom techniques. I will show you how to string up a loom and try out a few basic techniques. The Tri-angle Loom is included in the price. No previous loom experience needed. The loom and all supplies will be provided.

During the time that fighting men wore Chain mail it was the best protection against cuts and slashes. The most popular pattern was the English 4 in 1 pattern. Learn the basics of making chain mail, and you too could be next person to make armor for your self or friends. The Mandrel is included. Class size limited to 6

KC RenFest Booth 651
Intermediate Chainmail will cover the techniques needed to construct a coif (chainmail hood). We will also learn how to create expansion and contraction joints. Students will construct a chainmail juggling ball in class as well. Class size limited to 10

*Classes will be by reservation only. Fees include any materials needed and two lunchtime meals. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve class space
